Institute for Information Management


The Institute for Information Management (IIM) is the research institute of the Faculty for Information and Communication Sciences at the Technical University of Cologne. The IIM has the task of preparing, implementing and coordinating research, development and consulting projects in the field of information management. With this special profile, the aim is to bundle the research activities within the faculty organizationally and spatially and thus to create transparency and use synergies.

All research projects by members of the faculty with a duration of at least 6 months and a volume of at least 20,000 euros are located in the IIM, which are financed by additional funds provided by industry, organizations, project sponsors (e.g. DFG, BMBF, EU) and university-internal research funding.

The institute is open to all colleagues of the faculty who are active in third-party funding and is managed by the managing director and the board of directors. This includes the dean of Faculty 03, the managing directors of the two teaching institutes of Faculty 03 and the professors working at the institute, as well as one representative per research project from the group of academic staff.
