Basecamp: an entire project on one page

With Basecamp, teams organize their projects without great planning effort. Simply register with your full name, company, email address and password and off you go: In the test version, users can immediately create projects and invite other team members to join them by email. A link in the e-mail takes them to the project page, where they can call up information, contribute to discussions or upload files - even without their own account.

When creating articles, the author decides which project members should be notified by email - the system provides an automatic suggestion based on previous communication. In addition, each user can activate a daily notification service for all of their projects. If you have your own Basecamp account, you can also set up other projects and events. The calendar overview makes overlaps and bottlenecks immediately visible - even for several calendars at the same time. Tasks can be assigned and their progress monitored.

With the full-text search, all contributions to a project (tasks, documents, comments) can be searched quickly and easily - even after the project has ended. The cost for the service is 10 dollars per month - without a long-term contract and regardless of the number of users. This entry-level offer includes three GB of storage space and up to 10 projects.

Cozimo: something for the eye

The online sharing of files and documents where appearance matters is Cozimo's domain. Whether images or videos: Visually designed content in all formats can be commented, discussed and approved with Cozimo in synchronous and asynchronous online collaboration. For example, a graphic designer can present his drafts in an online meeting and visually highlight details.

All participants have the option of marking certain areas of an image or graphic. Videos can also be viewed together at different locations on the web. The stream can be stopped at any time to mark individual frames. Later, all marked frames are displayed in the overview, so that the necessary changes can be processed without long jumping and reeling.

Cozimo is available in five different paid versions that cost between 29 and 249 dollars per month, depending on the number of possible project groups and storage space. In addition, a free version for a project group with up to 10 MB storage space is available to get to know each other.

Groupion: From groupware to ERP

Groupion's functions range from simple team support to functions for customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP). This means that the product is also suitable for mapping important, project-independent processes in companies. The basic package with collaboration add-on is limited to functions for task management, group calendar, follow-ups, notes, shared bookmarks, central contact management, email client and file management.

This allows all important areas of team and project work to be mapped, from the distribution of tasks to communication and time recording. This range of services is available free of charge in the Free Edition for up to five users with 50 MB storage space each. In the Business Edition, each user has 500 MB of storage space - at a price of 14.95 euros per user and month. Team members who only have read access do not count as users.

Huddle: attack on Sharepoint

The name huddle does not necessarily convey the idea of professional cooperation that runs in an orderly manner. But just as with American football, where the huddle, the meeting of all players in a team, is the result of a planned procedure within the framework of a move, the software of the same name is intended to support companies in successful cooperation.

According to the manufacturer, it is already doing this in more than 100,000 organizations worldwide. Freelancers are just as much a part of the customer base as multinational companies or government agencies. The provider promises “more than file sharing” and positions itself as an alternative to the de facto standard Sharepoint. With functions for whiteboards, discussions and meetings, Huddle supports collaboration in real time as well as the management of various resources. The trial version - free of charge for 14 days - gives the impression of clarity and transparency. With regard to the costs in practice, however, there is a lack of clarity: the user only receives statements on this in direct contact with the sales staff.

Mobiwaves - manage projects and business relationships

The German provider MobiWork focuses on supporting mobile employees with its MobiWave s product. This also includes the option of working with the solution offline.

Functionally, Mobiwaves supports the user in flexible team organization and efficient project management, with a focus on marketing. In addition to the classic functions for online collaboration such as workflow, activity management for tasks, recalls, memos, etc., the solution also includes customer and prospect management, addresses, contacts and an invoice journal.

In addition to numerous master data, for example from the device and article database, contract and order data are also available for employees on the move. In addition, there is document management for sketches and plans, flexible route and deployment planning as well as service and activity reporting. Functions for controlling and monitoring the on-site service as well as the online chat function for maintenance teams with an integrated telephone box round off the service portfolio. In the Start version, the solution is available with up to three users and 500 MB online storage at a price of 34 euros per month. The one-time setup fee is 59 euros.
